“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”

–          Matthew 7:7

The assurance that we have in the Lord is that He is the God that answers prayers. He promises that when we ask we will be given, when we seek we will find and when we knock, the door will be open unto us. Indeed the greatest risk is not one of an unanswered prayer but one of an unoffered prayer. Knowing that God answers prayers and praying to him in faith is a pre-requisite to having your needs met. Every major move of God in history has always been traceable to a believer who decided to pray and there is no need, physical, financial, marital or emotional that is too big or too small for God to handle. He is only a prayer away.

You don’t have to live perpetually with that affliction or sickness. Whatever the limitation is on your life, you can decide to break free today. The way of prayer is the way of victory. In 1 Samuel 1, Hannah had a limitation in her life. It was obvious from the story that she was helpless. Not only was she barren, she was a made a subject of mockery by her subordinate. Hannah’s prayer was one of the deepest supplications every recorded in the pages of the scriptures, she prayed out her heart unto God- it was a heartfelt prayer, and the Lord heard her. She gave birth to Samuel which is translated ‘for I have asked him of the Lord’. God answers prayers.

Paul had ministered deliverance to a damsel that was possessed with the spirit of divination and as a result incurred the anger of her masters. They in turn plotted against Paul and he was imprisoned and thrown into a dark dungeon alongside his assistant, Silas. But at midnight, Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to God despite their current predicament. Their prayers brought God into the scene with an earthquake that led to the jailer eventually accepting the gospel. This is a prove that God answers prayers.

There are setbacks that however limit us from going to God in prayers. These setbacks must be dealt with if we are to breakthrough and be victorious. The first major setback or reason why we do not experience the power and love of God in the place of prayer is our prayerlessness. A lot of people do not bother to pray and those who want to pray worry about being sure that the requests that they want to present are worthy of praying over. They either do not want to “disturb” God with their “little” requests or they do not know if God cares about those details of their lives. Philippians 4:6 (New century Version) says “Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks.” God wants us to talk to Him about everything. Do not hold back on any prayer concern.

The second major setback is sin. The bible says that if we regard iniquity in our heart, the Lord will not answer our prayers. If we cherish sin more than obeying God in every way, God will not answer us (Psalm 66:18). Are there un-confessed sins in your heart and life, confess them to God in prayers and depart from them and be restored to the place of prayer power in Jesus name. The bible also assures us that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and clean us of all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

After these set-backs, we need to persevere in prayers. The bible talks of Daniel who through perseverance in the place of fasting and praying was able to get answers to his prayers. He fasted for 21 days and God came through for Him.

In this month of November at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Victory House London, we would be fasting and praying for the first 21 days in our annual Breakthrough Conference, this is a time we meet together to pray together on all the issues that concern us and the Lord always shows up at the meetings and pampers us with instantaneous answers to our prayers. For more information, please visit the church’s website – www.rccgvictoryhouse.com

The Breakthrough Conference (which is also popularly referred to as the Daniel Fast) is a season of seeing God do many great things. I invite you to be a part of it.
